Rules

5 v 5 Men’s Basketball League

 

Time:

  • 22 minutes per half
  • 5 minute halftime
  • 5 minute overtime with running clock (if tied after 1 OT in regular season game remains a tie)
  • 1 timeout per half (does not carry over)
  • Clock DOES NOT stop in the 1st half
  • Clock stops in the 2nd half in the last 2 minutes ONLY if a team is losing by less than 10
  • NCAA RULES 
- NO DUNKING

Forfeit:

  • If a team does not have the minimum number of players (4) within 10 minutes of the designated start time, the team will forfeit

 

Scoring:

  • If a team leads by 10 or more points at any point during the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half, the remainder of the game will be played as running time.
  • If this lead becomes less than 10 points, the game will return to stopped time
  • Overtime during regular season games is limited to one single 5 minute period – games can end in a tie
  • 5 minute of overtime (if necessary) for playoff games

Fouls and Free Throws
:

  • A player will be disqualified for his second technical foul
  • Any unsportsmanlike or flagrant foul will result in 2 free throws, automatic ejection and loss of possession
  • All free throws take place on the 7th team foul
  • Straight to the double bonus shooting two free throws

Substitutions:

  • May be made following the whistle, but ONLY after the substitute has been “waived in” by an official
